It's Slowly Getting There

We're almost at the finish line!  The herringbone patterned marble tile is going up; then the iron brackets and marble shelves.  The walls still need to be painted; lights installed.  I'm filling up my cupboards and trying to regain order in my living and dining rooms.

Eileen, I thought I was above petty jealously, apparently not. I use this word sparingly, but your kitchen is AWESOME.

Please send the plans, contractor, cabinet maker, and tile setter to Washington State, I'm next. Oh wait, we better wait on that; they probably want to be paid. Um, um, nice everything, really like the sliding door cabinet by the fridge. Congratulations!

Thank you, all. I need to start cooking/baking again! I find myself just standing in the kitchen staring at everything. I can't believe this kitchen is actually in my house!

Eileen,
It is looking gorgeous!
Love the backsplash tile layout and the hood over the oven/stove.
I am envious, and don't have the nerve to take apart my kitchen.

The kitchen is amazing. We recently bought a older house with a outdated kitchen, so the pictures and ideas are wonderful. Where did you get that lovely chalkboard? I've been looking for an old chalkboard for years. Any suggestions on how to find one? Cheers!

Summer- Old slate boards are out there. Ebay is a good place to start. Also, calling local stoneyards is another option. If they don't have anything, they can possibly direct you where you need to look. I was extremely fortunate; my old slate board was given to me by a good friend. It measures 43-inches-by-48-inches and the wall was reinforced before hanging. They are VERY heavy!

Tom,
Let me know when you're ready and I'll send you my friend and architect, Kathy Olmstead (of Laurel Ulland Architects). You could not get anyone better than Kathy, in my opinion!

These are the cutest and most delicious little beauties! I have made a big galette but not single serve! This is a must-make recipe.
What a great blog you have.
So chic!

I have not been checking your website for ages (I think it's been almost two weeks) because I was so terribly disappointed not to see delicious postings of food or an update of the kitchen progress. What a JOY to check in today and see this magnificent kitchen and food up and coming. I've missed you!!! Congrats on a beautiful new creative space. I love it!

Kate,
I'm sorry I haven't been posting much this summer. This kitchen remodel just took everything out of me, but I'm really hoping that by the end of next week just about everything will be finished. Hope to take some really great photos of the kitchen then and get back to 3 posts a week of what I'm cooking and baking in my new kitchen.
