Here's to Another 20!

I did it!  The big splurge.  Still the most basic Viking range out there -- gas oven and cooktop.  But the difference between this model and my former Viking range of 20 years is huge (convection, which I'm sure I will appreciate when baking).  I wasn't planning on purchasing a new range quite yet, but Viking has just discontinued this color -- Kettle Black.  I usually tend to choose matte over shiny and it was now or never.  Hopefully, it will serve me well the during next 20 years!

I'm so very happy for you Eileen. I know exactly what you're talking about. I had a gas line installed in the kitchen just in case...but my old Whirlpool electric just keeps plugging away. I dream of a pro-style gas range like DCS, Viking, or Thermador, and look on Craigslist often for that ad, the one that would go like this... "I've quit cooking, and now offering a free La Cornue to a good home," A guy can dream can't he? Again, can't wait to hear more about this dreamy little kitchen addition.

Tom -- My ad wasn't anything like you are hoping to find on Craigslist, but that's where I sold my old Viking. I placed the ad at about 4 p.m. on a Saturday, and by 10 p.m., I had 12 inquiries. And it's in good hands. I sold it to a chef for his home kitchen!

How exciting, Eileen! Congratulations! Your mention of the convection option reminds me - I would love a post on some of your baking tips! I am never sure how to use the convection setting, and I'm sure you have plenty of other helpful insights on baking! Hope all is well!

Congrats on your new baby! Your last one served you well.

I have a dual fuel Jenn Air from 1998, and I love it. Gas range, and an electric oven w/ convection.

Why is it that I never use my convection oven? Maybe I will start!

It's beautiful! It's clean!
Here's to us both having fun getting it dirty! :)
We got our 6 burner Blue Star just in time for my husband to take over meal prep and baking and he is falling head over heels for her. He has also been sighted two-timing with our Global knives and is moving faster than I ever could ... plus he still has all his digits!
So happy for you.
Cheers
